McTell Fest is proud to announce a late addition to this year’s lineup …

None other than Col. Bruce Hampton, Ret., and The Madrid Express. Bruce and the Express played our event a few years back and we are happy to have him back. To music lovers in Georgia, he certainly needs no introduction.

Hampton founded the Hampton Grease Band in the 60’s and has led a variety of top-notch ensembles throughout his career …The Late Bronze Age, New Ice Age, Aquarium Rescue Unit, The Fiji Mariners, The Quark Alliance, The Codetalkers, and his latest, The Madrid Express. These bands have featured the very best of talent, no matter the edition … such as guitarists Jimmy Herring and Bobby Rodgers, bassists Oteil Burbridge and Ted Pecchio, drummers Jeff Sipe and Tyler Greenwell, mandolinist Matt Mundy, and many, many more.

This version of the band will also feature the sacred steel of Dante Harmon, on pedal and lapsteel. Click on to get the latest on him.

Hampton is the elder statesman of Georgia’s music scene and we are proud to present a set by him and the Express at the 23rd Annual Blind Willie McTell Festival. Learn more about his incredible life at
